The short version

Muffl collects no personal data. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no tracking. Audio is analysed in memory on your iPhone and is never recorded or sent.

Microphone

• Only while the shield is on, Muffl uses the microphone to notice the sounds you chose. Audio passes through a buffer of about two seconds that exists only in memory and is overwritten continuously.
• Sounds are classified on your iPhone by Muffl's own detector and Apple's built-in SoundAnalysis framework. No audio is written to storage and no audio leaves the device.
• When you teach Muffl a sound of your own, the examples also live only in memory. Muffl keeps a numeric fingerprint of them, from which the sound cannot be rebuilt.

What Muffl stores, and where

• Diary episodes: when a trigger was softened, which kind of sound, which profile, and — if you answer — how it felt.
• Your profiles, settings, sensitivity tuning and the fingerprints of your own sounds.
• Purchase status read from the App Store.

All of this is stored on your iPhone and shared with your Apple Watch over Apple's WatchConnectivity. If you turn on iCloud sync for the diary (off by default), diary entries — never audio — are also stored in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot access. We never receive any of it.

Network access

Muffl makes no network requests of its own. Purchases are handled by Apple's App Store (StoreKit), and optional iCloud sync by Apple's CloudKit.

Third parties

Muffl contains no advertising and no analytics SDKs. Purchases are processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Children

Muffl collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete. You can export or delete your diary in the app; deleting the app removes everything Muffl has stored on the device.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
