Privacy Policy

The short version

Tellbook has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics and no advertising. We, the developer, never receive your recordings, texts or photos.

What the app stores

Voice recordings you make, their transcripts, chapter texts you edit, photos you add, storyteller names and book settings. All of this is stored on your iPhone and, if iCloud is turned on for your Apple Account, synced to your private iCloud database. Only you can access it.

Speech recognition and text tidying

Transcription is done on your iPhone with Apple's on-device speech recognition. On supported devices and languages the chapter text may be tidied up by Apple's on-device language model. Neither sends your recordings or texts to us.

Recording other people

You are responsible for telling the person you record that you are recording and getting their agreement. Before the first recording of each storyteller, the app asks you to confirm this.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive no payment details.

Your control

You can edit or delete any chapter, recording or storyteller in the app, and export the full archive at any time. Deleting the app removes local data; data in iCloud can be managed in Settings › [your name] › iCloud.

Children

Tellbook is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from them.
